CONGRESSWOMAN JACKIE SPEIER ENDORSES GARY WADDELL FOR SAN MATEO COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS



March 27, 2018 – San Mateo, CA. Today, Gary Waddell, candidate for San Mateo County Superintendent of Schools, announced his endorsement by Congresswoman and former State Senator Jackie Speier. Congresswoman Speier represents portions of San Francisco and most of San Mateo County.

In announcing her support, Congresswoman Speier stated "Gary delivers.  As a school counselor and principal, Gary advocated for top-flight schools.  He supports universal preschool. As deputy superintendent of schools for San Mateo County, he has been instrumental in reducing the achievement gap in the County.  I’m impressed that with all of his responsibilities he found time to be a foster parent.  Students will be well-served by Gary Waddell’s innovative thinking and leadership.  I highly recommend Dr. Gary Waddell for Superintendent of San Mateo County Schools.”

Dr. Gary Waddell is a candidate for San Mateo County Superintendent of Schools in the June 5, 2018, countywide election.  One of the primary responsibilities of the County Superintendent is to ensure financial and academic stability of the County’s 23 school districts that serve over 95,000 students. Dr. Waddell currently serves as the Deputy Superintendent of the San Mateo County Office of Education where he oversees the instructional services and programs and is second-in-command.  He has more than 30 years of experience as a County administrator, school principal, teacher and school counselor at every educational level.
